Houcine Bennoui, Kaoponlek, and Armen Petrosyan Headline Muay Thai Tournament in Italy

On July 5 in Trieste, Italy, Houcine Bennoui and Kaoponlek are set to collide in a 63 kg match-up.

Houcine Bennoui is one of France’s best 65 kg nak muays, and is coming off a loss to Saenchai PK Muaythaigym in Cork, Ireland. No shame in that of course, but the rest of Bennoui’s 2012 was relatively successful, scoring victories of Imwiset at Yokkao 2013 and Singmanee Kaewsamrit at Thai Fight: Lyons.

He’ll be squaring off against Kaoponlek, one of the oldest muay thai superstars still dominating the international muay thai scene. Kaoponlek’s most recent fight was the absolute destruction of 65kg stalwart Sergio Wielzen at GLORY 7 Milan. It was act of such overwhelming technical superiority, that the performance almost immediately provoked calls for GLORY to bring in more Thai fighters to test the top kickboxers in the world.

Also on the card, Giorgio Petrosyan’s brother, Armen Petrosyan, will face off against Samo Petje, while Naruepol Por Suvan, Contender Asia Runner Up, will take on Sharos Huyer.

Stick here with FSA updates for any future changes regarding the event.
