Buakaw Back in the Ring on May 27 against Quentin Chong

Buakaw Banchamek has had an interesting past few months. After being under strict orders from Thai Fight not to participate in any bout outside of their organization until 2014, the K-1 MAX tournament winner has done just that, and on multiple occasions. While Buakaw’s latest fights have been little more than exhibition performances, his relationship with Thai Fight and Por Pramuk gym is rocky at best.

It looks like Buakaw will be walking dangerously close to the line yet again, as he is scheduled to face South African fighter Quentin Chong on May 27 in Koh Samui. The fight will come at the tail end of a 3 day seminar session, capped off with a series of undercard matches, including a four-man championship tournament. While it hasn’t been explicitly stated that Buakaw’s match will be an exhibition bout, considering his current legal predicament we can most likely assume that it is.

Buakaw is currently scheduled to participate in MAX Muay Thai’s 2nd show in Jakarta, Indonesia, but as of now we have no word on an opponent.

Meh, not much more than a publicity stunt. More interested in Somrak’s fight and Brodie’s as I nearly fought him a few times. Any idea if it will be streamed?

Wonder if this match will cost Chong as much as his ‘world titles’ lol
