Kid Yamamoto Returns at UFC 165

“Kid” Yamamoto will make his long awaited return at UFC 165 where he’ll face off with Ivan Menjivar in Toronto, September 21st.

This will be Norifumi’s first fight back since February of last year. He’s currently on a three-fight losing streak, and hasn’t won since 2010. It’s a must win fight for the Japanese fighter, and he isn’t taken on an easy fight with Menjivar.

Yamamoto quickly shot to fame by defeating much larger opponents throughout his career, and was regarded as the best Featherweight in the world at one point, racking up a fourteen-fight win streak. After dropping two straight, he decided to move down to Bantamweight where he made quick work of Federico Lopez at DREAM.14. The UFC came calling, and since then he’s still looking for that first win inside the Octagon.

Ivan will also look to get back on winning ways since losing his last fight to Urijah Faber. He’s currently 3-2 in his last five outings, and needs a win in Toronto. It has all the makings of a FOTN performance, especially if it stays on the feet.

The Main Event will see Jon Jones put his title on the line against Swedish star Alexander Gustafsson.

Here’s how the card looks:

Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson
Myles Jury vs. Mike Ricci
Ivan Menjivar vs. Norifumi Yamamoto
