Looks Like John Wayne Parr Won’t be Trying Out for TUF; Training GSP Instead

John Wayne Parr is a man with big dreams. After competing for years on the K-1 and Thai Stadium circuits, before founding his own branch of Caged Muay Thai and compiling several wins, the Australian legend recently told FSA he had set his sights on tasting UFC gold.

Sadly, it appears that dream will be put on hold for a while. Parr initially intended to try out for the upcoming season of  The Ultimate Fighter in Australia, but a minimum of 5 professional MMA fights was required. Parr believed his extensive track record in Muay Thai, plus his immense popularity in Australia would make his candidacy a shoe-in.

Disappointing as it is, John Wayne won’t be out of the MMA game entirely. A few weeks back he announced that UFC welterweight champion, Georges St. Pierre, would be flying him up to Montreal to be his personal striking coach in preparation for his showdown with Johnny Hendricks at UFC 167.

This will be John Wayne’s first time working with an MMA athlete as storied as St. Pierre, and could be a sign of great things to come in the training career of our favorite Aussie.
