11 bouts confirmed for DEEP Tokyo Impact Wave 6

DEEP Tokyo Impact Wave 6 is set to go down on October 14 at the Shinjuku FACE situated in Tokyo, Japan.

DEEP has been one of Asia’s longest running Mixed Martial Arts promotions, having held over 200 events to date since its inception in 2001.

Eleven bouts have been scheduled to take place with a headliner featuring Lightweight tournament finalists Ryosuke Togashi (10-7-1) and Naoto Miyazaki (9-2-3). A former Pancrase vet, Togashi has found a new home under the DEEP banner, following a mixed start to his pro MMA career. The 26-year-old has amassed a record of 3-1-1 in his stint with DEEP thus far, with his most recent appearance coming at the DEEP Impact 2013 155-lbs tournament semi finals in July, where he garnered a Unanimous Decision victory to earn his ticket to the finals.

Miyazaki, meanwhile, is on a six-fight win streak; 3 of which have come in DEEP. Despite having two losses on his resume, Miyazaki has never been finished in his career thus far. Perhaps the favorite in winning the Lightweight tournament, the 30-year-old defeated Ken Hamamura and Yoichi Fukumoto en route to booking his place in the finals.

Two 125-lbs tilts featuring Haruo Ochi (9-3-1) vs. Chikara Shimabukuro (8-8-4) and Isamu Odagiri (3-1) vs. Takashige Hirukawa (2-3-5) have also been slated to Monday’s stacked line-up.

Ochi-Shimabukuro will serve as the night’s co-main event. Ochi won five straight bouts prior to picking up a defeat at the hands of Ryuichi Miki in November of last year. Shimabukuro, on the other hand, has had a more Jekyll and Hyde career thus far, experiencing mixed fortunes at 125-lbs. The 32-year-old will be looking to end 2013 with his name back in the win column, having lost twice in his previous three appearances of the calendar year.

With five draws in his last six outings, Takashige “Crazy Hiru” Hirukawa faces an uphill task of snapping his winless run when he faces Isamu Odagiri. The latter fighter has garnered three straight victories and was last seen at DEEP Tokyo Impact Wave 5, where he decisioned the aformentioned Chikara Shimabukuro.
