UFC signs ZST veteran Shunichi Shimizu

The UFC have delved into the Asian market once again. Having recently signed Kyoji Horiguchi, Tatsuya Kawajiri & Katsunori Kikuno. The world’s leading Mixed Martial Arts promotion has now signed Uruno Dojo’s very own Shunichi Shimizu.

At 28-years of age the Japanese fighter has amassed a 28-8-10 record, and is currently on a 5-fight win streak with four of those wins coming by way of Submission.

The newly signed Bantamweight started his Mixed Martial Arts career back in 2005. Shimizu has competed for the likes of DEEP, Pancrase and Sengoku but is most known for fighting under ZST where he became a fan favorite.

Most recently he fought Yuki Baba in a three round fight to eventually tap his opponent via Submission (Armbar) at Pancrase 247 earlier this year. Shunichi’s last lose came at the hands of former UFC fighter Motonobu Tezuka back in 2012 at Pancrase – Progress Tour 5 via Unanimous Decision.
