Eric Kelly returns to action at URCC 24: Uprising

Eric Kelly has been considered as one of the best prospects to ever come out of the Philippines, with notable victories over the likes of Bae Young Kwon, Mitch Chilson and former UFC Champ Jens Pulver.

Once the owner of a spectacular nine-fight winning streak, Eric Kelly (9-1) suffered his first career defeat at the hands of fellow Filipino fighter Honorio Banario in his 145-lbs title outing at ONE FC 7:  Return of Warriors. The Muayfit stand-out buckled for twenty-one minutes, and was forced to descend to the canvas once Banario landed a left hook that rekindled an old eye injury. The 31-year-old has been on the shelves ever since.

But fear not MMA faithfuls for Eric Kelly’s return to pro MMA action is imminent. The Filipino fighter is set to compete in URCC’s upcoming 24th installment, titled “Uprising”, which goes down on November 30 at the SMX Convention Centre situated in Pasig City, Philippines.

According to MMAOrient, Kelly has been rumored to face an undefeated, 6-0 Chinese fighter in his return, Questions as to whether his URCC Featherweight belt will be on the line will be answered in due’s time. He is, after all, the promotion’s reigning 145-lbs champ.

Philippines’ URCC has long been a staple of the MMA scene having been around the landscape for over a decade. Eric Kelly joins the likes of Eduard Folayang, Honorio Banario and Kevin Belingon among others as products of the URCC promotion. It would hence only be fitting for the Muayfit native to redeem himself and get back in the win column in front of his Filipino audience under the URCC banner.

Other match-ups that have been included in the URCC 24: Uprising fight card include Igor Subora (4-1) vs. Marcus Valda (1-0) for the URCC Heavyweight championship belt, and Adrian Hillana (1-1) vs. Ali Khatibi (1-0, 1 NC).
