Video: Watch Phuket Top Team’s Nicolai Salchow in action at Serbian Battle Championship 2

Nearly nine years on since making his professional debut, Germany’s Nicolai Salchow (2-0) returned to pro MMA competition at a Serbian Battle Championship event that was held in Vojvodina, Serbia on Friday.

The 29-year-old, who runs and operates his own MMA gym (Agoge MMA) in Germany, spent time at Phuket Top Team as part of his training camp in preparation for Marinko Stjepanovic (0-2), an opponent that was entering the bout on home turf..

Salchow dominated proceedings from the get-go, landing a beautiful double-leg takedown that allowed him to maneuver to side control seamlessly. After a brief Arm-Triangle choke attempt and some vicious knees to the body of Stjepanovic, the finish came at the 2:57 mark of the bout, when Salchow gained full mount and started obliterating his opponent via brutal ground-and-pound, forcing the referee to intervene and stop the fight.

With that, Salchow gained the second victory of his career. The German has now garnered consecutive first round finishes. Stjepanovic, meanwhile, slumped to a three-fight losing skid, and is still in search of his first pro MMA victory.
