BRACE 24 update: Adam Corbett steps in for Aswegen, LIVE streaming cancelled

With JJ Van Aswegen (2-0) forced to pull out of his Featherweight match-up against Jeshua McPhail (1-0) for BRACE’s month end fight card, officials have immediately sought a new replacement. Englishman Adam Corbett (0-5) is now set to fight McPhail in what will be his sixth appearance of the calendar year.

Officials confirmed with Fight Sport Asia late Friday evening.

Headlined by a Featherweight championship match-up between Luke Standing and Martin Nguyen, BRACE 24 takes place on November 29 at the AIS Arena in Australia’s capital city of Canberra. Unlike previous events, however, LIVE streaming will not be offered this time around.

Having kicked off his pro MMA career in February, Corbett is 0-5, and is yet to taste victory. The Englishman has featured twice under the BRACE banner to date, with his most recent appearance coming against none other than the man he’s replacing, the aforementioned JJ Van Aswegen. He was last seen at an October Nitro MMA event, where he succumbed to a first round kneebar.

Corbett will be looking for a change in fortunes when he locks horns with starlet Jeshua McPhail. While Corbett will be hoping to use his experience to get the edge in this one, McPhail looks to make it two wins out of two.

The latest BRACE 24 line-up now includes:

  • Featherweight – Luke Standing vs. Martin Nguyen (For BRACE Featherweight Championship title)
  • Lightweight – Kevin Manderson vs. Jacob Pettett
  • Featherweight – Adam Corbett vs. Jeshua McPhail
  • Welterweight – Dimitar Dimitrovski vs. Craig Bath
  • Lightweight – Amarbir Singh vs. Matthew Darke
  • Featherweight – Peter Cross vs. Darwin Sugarit
  • Featherweight – Bao Ho vs. Steve McKinnon
  • Middleweight – Tahla Taslak vs. Kit Campbell
