Sean Soriano replaces Hacran Dias, faces Tatsuya Kawajiri at UFC Fight Night 34

Hacran Dias’ replacement has been named as unbeaten Featherweight prospect Sean Soriano.

Sources close to the situation confirmed the match-up with FSA earlier today.

Sean Soriano (8-0) began his Mixed Martial Arts career in June of 2009, and has since then ran through his opponents.

The 24-year-old Blackzilian made a name for himself competing under the CFA banner where he would eventually defeat Victor Delgado to claim the Interim Featherweight title.

Soriano would later defend the belt for the first time when he stepped back into the cage against Elvis Leon Brito (6-2) who prior to the fight was on a 6-fight win streak, Sean would go onto win the bout via Unanimous Decision.

Now the American prospect faces the biggest challenge of his professional career when he steps in on short notice to take on Japanese legend Tatsuya Kawajiri.

His opponent needs no introduction as he’s seen it all and done it all.

Tatsuya Kawajiri (32-7-2) signed with the UFC back in October and was set to make his promotional debut against dangerous grappler Hacran Dias. But due to injury the Nova Uniao product was pulled from the card.

The 35-year old now makes his long awaited debut when the UFC lands in Singapore for the time next month.

Former Shooto Welterweight champion Kawajiri will step into the Octagon eleven years Soriano’s senior, but age hasn’t stopped the T-Blood affiliate. In fact Tatsuya hasn’t tasted defeat since 2011 when he took on Gilbert Melendez for the Strikeforce Lightweight title.

Since then, Kawajiri has racked up an impressive 5-fight win streak with four of those coming in the Featherweight division. His last win came against UFC veteran Michihiro Omigawa at last years DREAM NYE event.

The main event of the evening sees a Welterweight clash as Tarec Saffiedine makes his UFC debut. His opponent will be Korean Top Team’s Hyun Gyu Lim who is 2-0 inside the Octagon.

UFC Fight Night 34 goes down at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre, January 4th

Here’s how the card looks thus far:

Tarec Saffiedine vs. Hyun Gyu Lim
Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. Sean Soriano

Kyung Ho Kang vs. Shunichi Shimizu
Katsunori Kikuno vs. Quinn Mulhern
