Former PXC champ Harris Sarmiento signs with ONE FC

Harris Sarmiento is now a ONE FC recruit.

Less than 24 hours after contractual talks broke down between the Pacific X-Treme Combat and Harris Sarmiento, ONE Fighting Championship came to terms with the 30-year-old.

The Singapore-based organization broke the news on Social Media (Twitter, Facebook) during its “Moment of Truth” event held in Manila, Philippines last night.

On Thursday, PXC made an announcement via Facebook, stating that the promotion had parted ways with Sarmiento:

“PXC and Harris Sarmeinto have not been able to agree on contract terms and have decided it is in the best interest of PXC to move on and part ways with Harris Sarmiento. Harris has been stripped of his lightweight title and PXC looks forward to crowning a new lightweight king in 2014.”

And before you know it, ONE FC came knocking on the door for the former Strikeforce vet’s signature. Sarmiento obliged, and he’s now set to apply his trade under the ONE FC banner.

Sarmiento held a 5-3 in his stint with PXC, where he fought the likes of Bellator MMA vet Joe Taimanglo and the highly touted Mark Striegl. During his tenure with the promotion, he garnered the 155-lbs strap and had a couple of successful title defenses.

A veteran of over sixty professional bouts, Sarmiento holds notable bouts with K.J. Noons, Nick Diaz, Roger Huerta, Josh Thomson, Gilbert Melendez and Max Holloway among others.

Regarded as a quality coup by Matt Hume and Victor Cui, the 30-year-old will now be strutting his skills inside the ONE FC cage, and match-ups with Vuyisile Colossa, Lowen Tynanes and Eddie Ng could be on the horizon.
