Albert Tumenov signs with the UFC, debuts against Ildemar Alcantara at UFC Fight Night 36

The UFC have dived into the Russian market once again with their latest installment Albert Tumenov.

Sources close to the Tumenov camp confirmed the news with FSA on Tuesday.

Albert Tumenov (12-1) began his Mixed Martial Arts career in February of 2010, and opened up with a 4-fight win streak before falling to fellow countrymen Murad Abdulaev.

Since then the 21-year-old has racked up an impressive 8-fight win streak running through opposition without much difficulty.

In fact the latest UFC import has stopped his last six opponents by way of KO/TKO, with his most recent win coming over hard nosed veteran Yasubey Enomoto in which the young phenom dropped & finished his opponent in the very first round.

Having made a mark on the Russian MMA circuit, the aggressive striker now turns his attention to a new challenge when he makes his promotional debut in 2014.

The younger brother of Iuri, Ildemar Alcantara (19-6) made a name for himself competing under the Jungle Fight banner before signing with the UFC.

Ildemar faced his Octagon jitters at the turn of the year when the Brazilian squared off with the now infamous Wagner Prado, Alcantara went onto win the bout via Submission (Kneebar) in the second round.

The 27-year-old would then defeat another fellow countrymen, Leandro Silva via Unanimous Decision. But at UFC Fight Night 29 Ildemar tasted defeat for the first time since 2011 when Igor Araujo got the best of him in a hard-fought decision.

Prior to the fight “Marajo” was on a 9-fight win streak.

Tumenov’s management K Dojo entered into a co-management deal with SuckerPunch Entertainment, so that the 21-year-old prospect could test his skills in the worlds leading Mixed Martial Arts organization.
