Sittichai vs. Wanchelerm headlines Muay Thai Combat: Yokkao 6 on January 3rd

The sixth Yokkao event is set to take place at the turn of the year on January 3rd at the Pattaya World Boxing Stadium in Pattaya, Thailand.

The event will be promoted by Stefania Picelli, CEO of Muay Thai Combat, and Timothy Dharmajiva, owner of the famous Sitsongpeenong Yokkao Training Center in Bangkok, Thailand.

Match-ups for the the Yokkao 6 fight card will include a headlining bout featuring Sittichai Sitsongpeenong vs. Wanchalerm Uddonmuang and Thongchai vs. Toby Smith among many others.

Officials confirmed details with Fight Sport Asia on Tuesday.

Sittichai vs. Wanchalerm will be an awesome match-up for true connoisseurs of Muay Thai. The contest has “knockout” written all over it and fans will get the opportunity to see two champions going at it for three rounds. Both combatants will compete at 65.7 kg/145-lbs which may be a slight disadvantage for Sittichai, who normally fights at the 70kg/154-lbs mark.

Sittichai has fought 116 times to date, pulling off a good string of victories in his recent fights against Mickael Piscitello, Fabio Pinca, Aikpracha Meenayothin, Dejrit Poptheeratham, CRICE Boussoukou, Petchasawin and many others.

Wanchalerm, meanwhile, is only 19-years-old and has already fought in 237 bouts. He holds notable victories over Thongchai Sitsongpeenong, Petchboonchu FA Group, Pakorn PK MuayThaiGym and Sakaetdao Phetpayathai (twice).

It’s no secret there is bad blood between both fighters and camps, so Muay Thai fans worldwide can expect to be treated to one of the most highly anticipated match-ups in the sport.

Thongchai Sitsongpeenong vs. Toby Smith will be a contest between the new generation of fighters. Aged 17 and 19 respectively, Thongchai is a Lumpinee champion coming off a TKO victory over Damien Alamos. Smith, on other hand, hails from Australia and has two world titles under the World Professional MuayThai Federation banner.

While both fighters are young, they are, at the same time, very dangerous in the ring. This bout will be contested at 70kg/154-lbs.

Bovy Sor Udosom vs. Imwiset Pornnarai was originally set for the January 3rd fight card, but due to Bovy’s health problems, the bout has been momentarily put on hold. Fight Sport Asia has learned that officials are seeking a replacement fighter for Pornnarai.

Apidej, a new entry into the Yokkao Military Team, along with other famous fighters are expected to compete at the event as well. Announcements will be made in the near future, so do keep it locked to Fight Sport Asia for updates.

As it stands, the line-up includes:

  • Sittichai Sitsongpeenong vs. Wanchalerm Uddonmuang
  • Thongchai Sitsongpeenong vs. Toby Smith
  • Imwiset Pornnarai vs. TBA
  • Apidej vs. TBA
