Kang tops Shimizu with a third round submission victory

Shimizu clearly wanted the bout to hit the canvas in the opening stages. And when it did, Kang had both a Triangle and Armbar attempt, which was well defended by Shimizu. However, during the midst of the Triangle Choke attempt, Kang landed an illegal elbow and was deducted a point for that.

The second round saw Kang dominate Shimizu in full mount, attacking viciously with elbows. The South Korea needed this round badly after the point deduction in the first.

The finish came in the third stanza where Shimizu was absolutely rattled in the grappling exchanges. The Japanese fighter was forced to tap from an Arm-Triangle choke in what was a dominant performance by Kang all around.
