UFC Fight Night 36 Results: Erick Silva shatters King of PANCRASE Takenori Sato in 52s

While he was expected to lose at the hands of Erick Silva (16-4, 1 NC) in their tilt at UFC Fight Night 36, few would have predicted the outcome to be a devastating one.

UFC Fight Night 36 took place on Saturday night at the Arena Jaragua in Jaraguá do Sul, Brazil. Sato-Silva was part of a five-bout main card that aired on FOX Sports 1.

King of PANCRASE Takenori Sato (17-9-7), who was riding high on a ten fight unbeaten run, made his UFC debut on Saturday night in enemy territory in Brazil. Sato stepped in as a replacement for Nate Loughran, who had to withdraw from the contest due to injury.

And well, it didn’t end too well for the Japanese vet.

In just the opening stages, Silva, in his unorthodox stance, landed a body kick that backed Sato up momentarily.

The 28-year-old then shot for a single leg takedown, which was well stuffed by his Brazilian counterpart. But as Sato held onto Silva’s leg thereon in, Silva landed multiple devastating fists to the Japanese fighter’s head, forcing referee Mario Yamasaki to step in and make an intervention.

It was certainly not the sort of promotional debut Sato had been hoping for, as he suffered his first defeat in four years.

In what was an otherwise decision filled card, check out the rest of the results from UFC Fight Night 36 below:
