Nieky Holzken vs. Marc de Bonte on tap for GLORY 16 in Denver

Kickboxing’s leading promotion, GLORY takes center stage later this year when the organization touches down in Denver, Colorado.

A match-up pitting two Welterweights together will see Nieky Holzken defend his 170-lb strap for the first time against Belgium’s Marc de Bonte.

Both men were scheduled to meet back at GLORY 13 in Tokyo, Japan for the Tournament semifinals. And then again at this past months GLORY 14 in Zagreb, Croatia. Third time lucky and now the pair will finally meet at GLORY 16 in Denver, Colorado.

Holland native Nieky Holzken announced the much anticipated bout via Twitter:

3may fight in denver colorado against marc de bonte for the @GLORY_WS @gloryworldtitle 77kg

GLORY 16 is scheduled to take place May 3rd at the 1STBANK Arena. And will be available to purchase on internet pay-per-view, as well as being broadcast on SPIKE TV.

Nieky Holzken (84-11) a veteran, who’s faced a who’s who of the sport, has amassed over ninety fights in his long and illustrious career, including an unbeaten run (6-0) inside the GLORY ring.

The 30-year-old had an incredible outing in 2013, that saw Holzken go 3-0 for the year. With his first fight of 2014 now set. Nieky aims to continue winning ways, not to mention defend his Welterweight crown for the first time against a technical fighter in Marc de Bonte.

Marc de Bonte (86-11-1) a fighter who’s still relatively young in his Kickboxing career has a lot of of hype surrounding him. At 24-years of age, de Bonte will make his third appearance under the brights lights of Kickboxing’s premier establishment — GLORY.

Having fought and lost to Murthel Groenhart on his promotional debut, de Bonte bounced back in equally impressive fashion to finish L’houcine Ouzgni, who was the last man to defeat Holzken. One of Belgium’s promising young stars now turns his attention to the biggest fight of his professional career, when he gets a chance at the 77kg gold.

*GLORY 15 takes place April 12th at Ulker Sports Arena in Istanbul, Turkey. And will feature another stellar card with such names as hometown hero Gokhan Saki, Tyrone Spong, Nathan Corbett, Robin van Roosmalen, Danyo Ilunga, Marat Grigorian and much, much more.
