Shintaro Ishiwatari, Rin Nakai and Akitoshi Tamura all feature at PANCRASE 258

Pancrase have announced three additional fighters for their upcoming event at PANCRASE 258, scheduled to take place later this year, May 11th at the Differ Ariake in Tokyo, Japan.

The card features Bantamweight King of Pancrase Shintaro Ishiwatari, Bantamweight Queen of Pancrase Rin Nakai and Mixed Martial Arts veteran Akitoshi Tamura.

After 20-years inside the world renowned ring, Pancrase adopts the unified ruleset, as well as the World Series of Fighting’s (WSOF) ten-sided Decagon from here on out.

Pancrase have held two events inside a cage with their smaller shows at Bayside Fight thus far.

Shintaro Ishiwatari (17-5-4), who’s currently on a two-fight win streak, since coming up short at the last hurdle to Kyoji Horiguchi in June of 2013, aims to successfully defend his King of Pancrase title for a third consecutive time, after winning the prestigious crown back in 2011.

Pancrase starlet Rin Nakai (15-0-1) returns eight months on following a Majority Decision win over Tara LaRosa at PANCRASE 252 late last year. The 27-year-old Judokan powerhouse tries to keep her flawless record intact when she steps into the cage for the first time in her professional MMA career.

Shooto’s former Featherweight Champion, Akitoshi Tamura (17-14-2) looks to build off his most recent outing, snapping a three-fight losing streak. With a wealth of experience having faced the likes of Masakatsu Ueda, Rumina Sato, Ian Loveland, Takeshi Inoue, Yusuke Yachi and Taiyo Nakahara throughout his career. This will mark the 33-year-old’s Pancrase debut.

*PANCRASE 257 takes place this weekend and will be the last time the promotion holds an event inside the ring. The historic card sees a Champion vs. Champion match-up between Lightweight King of Pancrase, Isao Kobayashi (14-1-4) and Shooto Welterweight Champion, Kuniyoshi Hironaka (22-8) in a much anticipated bout.

Also on the card, Kiyotaka Shimizu looks to defend his Super Flyweight King of Pancrase title against Atsushi Yamamoto, who were suppose to meet in 2013 for the 125-lb strap. But after an injury forced Yamamoto off the card, Atsushi now gets a second chance at gold.
