Quadruple of bouts added to ONE FC 16: Honor & Glory in Singapore

May’s month end ONE FC card in Singapore has four new additions.

The match-ups include Ji Xian (11-2) vs. Thanh Vu (3-3) at 135-lbs, Alan Ngalani (1-1) vs. Che Lewis Perry (5-0) at Heavyweight, Stephen Langdown (1-0) vs. Casey Suire (4-0) at Bantamweight and Nik Harris (5-2) vs. Brad Robinson (2-0) at Catchweight.

Officials announced the bouts on Wednesday morning.

Headlined by a Welterweight bout between Ben Askren (12-0) and BakhtiyarAbbasov (11-2), ONE FC 16: Honor & Glory takes place May 30 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. As with previous events, the main card airs LIVE on Star Sports in Asia, and streams LIVE on an online pay-per-view for US$9.99.

Ji Xian, from China, is one of the most highly regarded Bantamweights in the Asian region. The 26-year-old has competed primarily in his homeland where he’s made appearances in RUFF along with Legend FC. He garnered the 135-lbs strap during his 4-1 run with the latter promotion. While all of Xian’s eleven victories have come via submission, his only two setbacks have come at the hands of former Legend FC Featherweight champ (and current ONE FC fighter) Yusuke Kawanago, and Japanese MMA veteran Koji Yoshida.

Thanh Vu, is an Australian fighter with Vietnamese descent. ‘Aladdin’ had a successful ONE FC debut in February last year, notching a TKO victory over Mohd Fouzein in the opening round of ONE FC’s Bantamweight Grand Prix. Back-to-back setbacks against the division’s elite in Kevin Belingon and Dae Hwan Kim since then, however, has seen the fighter falter in the pecking order.

Ngalani, a four time Muay Thai and Kickboxing champion, brought an explosive wheel kick knockout in his ONE FC and MMA debut. The Cameroonian, though, succumbed to a TKO defeat at the hands of Paul Cheng in his second appearance under the promotion’s flag at ONE FC 13: Moment of Truth.

Chi Lewis Parry, from the United Kingdom, makes his promotional debut. He is a perfect 5-0 who stands nearly two meters tall. Prior to taking up the sport of Mixed Martial Arts, the Brit played professional Basketball in the British Basketball league. With his lengthy figure, he’s expected to boast the longest reach in ONE FC’s Heavyweight division. He has never seen a third round in all his pro MMA outings.

Singapore’s fan favorite Langdown will enjoy the adulation from the fans come fight night. He returns to the ONE FC cage after convincingly defeating Marc Marcellinus in his ONE FC debut. He will be looking to pounce on the opportunity in becoming just the first Singaporean to record two wins in the ONE FC cage.

Casey Suire, at 4-0, will also be entering the ONE FC cage for the second time after his win over Raymond Tan at ONE FC 12: Warrior Spirit late last year. The Louisiana native trains at Indonesia’s top MMA academy, Synergy MMA, alongside the country’s first and only BJJ Black Belt, Niko Han, and superstar Fransino Tirta among others. He has finished all his opponents thus far.

Malaysia’s Nik Harris will be facing Brad Robinson in a grudge match, having lost in their first tussle via decision in September 2012. He often splits his time between Muayfit in Malaysia and Phuket Top Team in Thailand for his training camps. The 24-year-old is currently riding on a three-fight winning streak.

Robinson, nicknamed ‘Vanilla Gorilla’, is a product of Ultimate Beatdown and is known for his many different talents, including a gig as a TV presenter. He trains at Fight G in Singapore, and will be hoping to prove that his first win over Harris was no fluke.
