Jon delos Reyes out, Richie Vaculik faces Team Lakay prodigy Roldan Sangcha’an at UFC Fight Night 43

A Flyweight contest sees Team Lakay prodigy Roldan Sangcha’an step in on short notice for the injured Jon delos Reyes against TUF alumni Richie Vaculik later this month.

UFC announced the change yesterday afternoon via their official website.

Roldan Sangcha’an (4-0), a young prospect in the sport whose competed on the Asian MMA scene for the likes of PXC & URCC, now enters the Octagon as one of the youngest fighters on the UFC’s roster at 22-years of age.

Sangcha’an, an affiliate of Team Lakay was scheduled to pair off against fan favorite Rambaa Somdet for the Pacific Xtreme Combat (PXC) Flyweight belt earlier this year. But after an unfortunate injury, Somdet was pulled from the contest, leaving Sangcha’an without an opponent.

Now with his first official fight of 2014 set, Roldan returns where he aims to get a first Octagon win on his promotional debut, and upset his opponent Richie Vaculik in his own backyard.

Richie Vaculik (9-2), a cast member on the International “The Ultimate Fighter: Smashes” series back in 2012 competed on the show as an undersized Lightweight, before dropping down to the Flyweight division.

Vaculik made his Octagon debut in December of last year against top prospect Justin Scoggins. The 30-year-old went on to lose the contest in quick succession, after getting dominated from start-to-finish, eventually causing the referee to intervene.

With a second chance under the UFC lights, Vaculik aims to put on a better show this time round when he meets highly touted prospect Roldan Sangcha’an later this month at the Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand.

*A Middleweight contest between New Zealand’s very own James Te Huna and long time Mixed Martial Arts veteran, Nate Marquardt serve as the evenings main event.
