Pancrase 261 took place this past Sunday, October 5th at Differ Ariake in Tokyo, Japan.  The fight card featured Japanese MMA legend Satoru Kitaoka defeating ONE FC veteran Richie Whitson.  Kitaoka took the bout 30-27 across all of the judges score cards, by controlling the wrestling and grappling in the fight.  Satoru Kitaoka took the mic and expressed his desire to fight on New Year’s Eve in the Finals.

UFC Veteran Nam Phan moved to 2-0 since fighting in Japan in June at Grandslam.  Yuki Baba was able to hurt Nam Phan right away and force Nam to search for a takedown.  Baba got on top and landed heavy strikes, but Nam was able to survive.  Nam was able to hit a single leg takedown and transistion to back and sink in the rear naked choke in the first round.

Former K-1 kickboxer Kizaemon Saiga was able to win his MMA debut, but it wasn’t an easy fight for the debutant, being in trouble on the ground in various parts of the fight.  Yukitaka Musashi was able to get the doctor’s to stop the contest, as he bloodied and battered Hiroyuki Abe.  Kenta Takagi landed a hook right hand that put KEI Yamamiya to sleep in a very surprising finish.  Hiroki Yamashita was able to throw accurate strikes and stop the UFC veteran Shunichi Shimizu in the first round, his 3rd consecutive win.  In Neo Blood tournament finals, Kento Kambe was the only fighter to finish his opponent, stopping his foe with an armbar in the first round.  Yusukie Ogikubo, Shohei Masumizu and Juntaro Ushiku all won by Unanimous Decision.
