Manny Pacquiao Dominates Chris Algieri, Zou Shiming Wins Again

This past Saturday, the Cotai Arena in Macao China played host to a Top Rank event featuring one of boxing biggest stars, Manny Pacquiao.  Manny Pacquiao had his way throughout the fight, completely dominating the American.  With six knockdowns and a controlling pace in every round, Pacman took the judges scorecards 120-102, 119-103, 119-103.  Manny Pacquaio retained his WBO Welterweight title.  You can watch the post-fight presser here.  Will Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao finally fight?

In the co-main event, 2-time Olympic Gold Medalist, Zou Shiming, controlled a large majority of the fight, taking a unanimous decision victory (120-103, 119-106, 119-106).  Zou Shiming (5-0) was the first man to defeat Kwanpichit OnesongchaiGym (27-1-2), looking impressive while doing so, landing 42% of his punches.  You can watch highlights of the fight here.

Another 2-time Olympic Gold Medalist was on the card, Vasyl Lomachenko (3-1) defended his WBO Featherweight title for the first time against Thailand’s Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo (52-2).  Another lopsided contest as Vasyl Lomachenko beat Chonlatarn by a unanimous decision (120-107, 120-107, 120-107).  Lomachenko threw more than 1000 punches in the 12 rounds, landing 368 punches to just 86 for Piriyapinyo.  A potential fight with Nicholas Walters (25-0) could be the next fight fight for Vasyl.

The 25-year-old Jessie Vargas returned to the ring with his 26th victory in 26 bouts against Antonio DeMarco (31-4-1).  Vargas was able to take the judges’ scorecards by unanimous decision (116-112-, 116-112, 117-111) in a good fight.
