ONE FC 23 Preliminary Card Preview

ONE FC 23 Prelims

ONE FC returns to the Philippines on Friday, December 5th with a 10 fight card that has talent from top to bottom.  The event will be broadcast on, as well as throughout Asia on Fox Sports 3.  Tickets are available for purchase here.  FSA will preview the entire card from top to bottom.  Our preliminary card preview is below:

Tharoth Sam vs Jujeath Nagaowa

Tharoth “Little Frog” Sam (2-0) is an undefeated Cambodian Atomweight who is just 24-years-old.  Tharoth won her ONE FC debut at ONE FC 20 in Cambodia, submitting Vy Srey Chai with an armbar in the first round.

27-year-old Jujeath “Bad Girl” Nagaowa is undefeated in her MMA career, finishing Jeet Toshi at ONE FC 15 in May of this year.  Nagaowa was ONE FC’s first Filipino female fighter and brings a boxing background into this fight.

A fight that should be determined by whoever can get the fight where they want.  The obvious fan favorite will be Jujeath, but the question is whether she can keep the fight on the feet or stay on top.  Jujeath needs to stay off her back against the controlling Sam.  Tharoth is ripe for reversals if she gets to mount, but Nagaowa should work to stay on her feet or get on top.  Jujeath will be the aggressor and won’t stop until the fight is finished.  Shots to the body and an aggressive style will put an end to Tharoth Sam’s night.

Prediction: Jujeath Nagaowa by TKO (Punches) in Round 2

Ana Julaton vs Walaa Abas

Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton is a former WBO Female Super Bantamweight Champion and is 1-1 in ONE FC, losing her last bout to Ann Osman at ONE FC 19.  The 34-year-old is still learning the ground game, but has a distinct advantage on the feet.

Walaa Abas is 2-1 in her pro career, winning her past two fights in Egypt in 2013.  Walaa Abas also comes from a mixed background and both women should bring a strong show to this ONE FC preliminary card.

Ana Julaton has very fast hands and will look to go up and down with her punches.  Ana was dominated on the mat in her last fight and Abas will look to do the same.  Walaa’s only loss in MMA was on 24 hours notice at SFL 7.  Abas is a very tough fighter, but that may not be enough against the much more expierenced striker in Ana.

Prediction: Ana Julaton by TKO (Punches) in Round 1

Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke vs Rene Catalan

Dejdamrong is a 36-year-old Evolve MMA fighter who is now 3-0 in MMA.  A vastly experienced muay thai fighter with over 300 fights and who is a three time Lumpinee Stadium champion will continue his run in MMA.  Dejdamrong continues to pick up submission ability, actively looking to strike and then finish on the ground, finishing his last two fights with submissions.

Rene Catalan is a Filipino striker who lost his MMA debut at ONE FC 8 and lost his second MMA bout, but was ruled a no contest due to strike to the back of the head.

Rene will be the smaller fighter heading into this bout, but is not without the skill to make this a great fight.  Rene will need to get this fight down, as Dejdamrong will be relentlessly looking to finish the fight on the feet or the mat.  Dejdamrong will be at a disadvantage in the wrestling department, but is active off of his back and can finish the fight from that situation.  The fight comes down to being action based, as ONE FC pushes their fighters to finish fights, and Dejdamrong will surviv the early onslaught and take over the fight.

Prediction: Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke by TKO (Strikes) in Round 2
