An Aggressive Giorgio Petrosyan Dominates Erkan Varol at Thai Boxe Mania

This past Sunday, Giorgio Petrosyan returned to the ring for the first time since a knock out loss at the hands of former GLORY Lightweight Title holder, Andy Ristie. The loss to Ristie was Giorgio’s first in 6 years and more than 40 fights.  Giorgio was able to control the center of the ring early and throughout most of the fight.  Effective striking at distance with his left kick to the body and use of knees in combination with punches led to a dominant first frame for Petrosyan.  Continued use of his left kick to the body and legs slowed Varol down in the second.  A left high kick seemed to hurt Varol en-route to a series of knees, followed by a hard inside low kick and punches that brought the standing count.  An aggressive Petrosyan would control the remaining of the fight, looking aggressively for the finish with a varied assault of knees inside the clinch and kicks from outside.  Petrosyan would take the lopsided decision in his return to the delight of his home country’s fans.
